The project of the Ministry of Education’s National Research Programme I was coordinated by the CESES and developed in collaboration with Institute of Sociological Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague, Institute of Sociology, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, and Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University, Brno. It focused on studying the present situation, changes and development prospects of social and cultural cohesion in the Czech society. Its objective was to propose realistic strategies for strengthening cohesion on the macro, i.e. national level as well as on the mezzo and micro levels. Implementation was based on extensive national questionnaire surveys, comparative analyses relying on international databases, institutional analysis, analysis of data about the Czech Republic’s internal peripheries, and in-depth and group interviews with selected categories of the Czech population.
